Boosting Community Pride - Volunteer Highlight

Last Updated 4/30/2024

Pat Sconfienza and Kori Grogan have been involved in our West Scranton Work since December of 2022.  They own a home together in West Side and have volunteered with us in many different ways from clean ups, temporary safety installations, and events.  They have both helped us at the West Scranton Fall Festival multiple times, participated in Garbage Olympics, and were invaluable in setting up safety materials used for the Main Ave Trick or Treat event.  Between 2022 and 2023 Pat and Kori have donated about 80 hours of their time to NeighborWorks, but they say annually between the two of them they volunteer about 150 per year.  Kori Grogan (above, right) expresses that she volunteers in West Scranton "because it's the community I grew up in, raised my family in & currently call home. I take ownership in West Side and want to encourage others to do so as well."  She recognizes that, "The more helping hands we have - the better the outcome!"

We are so grateful for the passion and positivity Kori and Pat bring to their work in West Scranton.  Pat hopes that her participation in the West Scranton work "encourages community pride and cohesiveness."  We certainly have pride in the work you both bring to the community, and we have no doubt it contributes to improving the wellbeing of residents and business owners in West Scranton.

In addition to all of their contributions to NeighborWorks driven events, they have also become central to the work of our Safe, Clean, and Green committee.  They spearheaded a clean-up in collaboration with the West Scranton High School, offering an opportunity for students to get volunteer hours. Pat Sconfienza (above, left) says, "having a safe and clean community in West Side benefits all of us!"  She recognizes that, "Living and enjoying a safe & clean community has many positive benefits such as a positive sense of well-being."
